recombinant non-replicating vaccinia virus (Modified Vaccinia Ankara strain [MVA]) encoding two codon-optimised fusion proteins adjacent to one another containing hepatitis B virus (HBV) antigens, with the first one comprising the C-terminal region of the HBV Pre-S1 protein, Pre-S2, a non-functional polymerase, the pre- core antigen, and the core antigen, preceded by a shark Invariant (SIi) chain sequence and under control of the endogenous MVA F11 promoter and the vaccinia virus early termination signal. The second fusion protein comprises the signal peptide from tissue plasminogen activator (tpA), the N-terminal fragment of the HBVPre-S1 protein, and the HBV surface antigen (HBsAg) under control of a modified H5 promoter
